Overton's Personal Blog

a blog about a podcast blog

Okay, I started this blog off for my podcast idea I am working on but realized the name branding just wasn’t there.  So I have a new site up now for that podcast – but will wait to announce it until I have an actual episode done.

I will continue to use this blog for personal things and testing before I roll changes to my podcast blog.
Thanks!

This upcoming weekend (Dec 2-4, 2011), I am going to start with my “Pre-Episodes”. Test episodes where I work on my audio quality and voice techniques. I will post these, but many of these will be my test runs and I don’t promise these will set the tone for the upcoming shows! I am still researching many aspects of podcasting and waiting to aquire eqipment.

Co-Host

One of the key items that I set out to do before I started my podcasting is to find a co-host.  I am not that interesting of guy when it comes to talking to a computer, so I knew I neeed someone to help with the podcast project.  I believe I have found that person and now that I know who that potentially is, time to move forward on some more concepts!

Currently working on researching some proper methods of podcasting, best practices and equipment. Now, this all sounds good and professional – but I am sure when we take the plung, it won’t go as smoothly as I hope!

OK – I have to admit it – I have an addiction to podcasting. I am not personally a podcaster, but I listen to them for hours a day. I have never been a music lover, never was one to walk around with ear-buds blaring whatever the lastest tune is – but now I do that with podcasts. Why? I think it’s the hours a day I sit behind the computer without human interaction and podcasting gives me a sense of connection to the larger world. Yes, I interact with my family and friends, but now I can feel connected to the larger world – far beyound the small ND community in which I live.

Comment when ported from prior blog:

“Listening to podcasts is like sitting on a couch on a winter morning with a mug
of coffee and some other people are sitting around in the comfy chairs talking
to each other. Sometimes they are friends, sometimes they are family, but never
are they strangers and you always get to choose the flavor of conversation.”
